I am the owner of the new Crux Watch Co. Based in Melbourne, Australia. I went to University locally, majoring in aviation management and economics. Currently I am professionally employed as a consultant for an engineering firm, finding solutions for airlines and state airports including airspace planning, risk management and implementation of our national civil aviation authority (CASA) policies. Albeit working essentially as part of the ground crew community, I grew up having a passion for flying. Previously an astute trainee, now certified pilot, I take to the skies as much as possible, during times when I am not at work or duly engrossed with my other hobby, building custom watches.
The passion for watches, especially mechanical movements, runs in the family. Dad, an avid watch collector, amassing hundreds of new and old timepieces, introduced me to the heritage and the tik-toks of the mechanical wrist watch at a very young age. However it wasn’t until I was presented with my own wrist watch, a 1950 vintage Longines (initially acquired by my grandfather) that I started to study horology much more closely. What started as casual as opening up casebacks of every watch I got my hands on, just to have a fascinating peek inside, gradually became an obsession. I scoured the local and overseas flea market for properly well used vintage and military timepieces, challenging myself to complete overhaul and restore them to their original pristine self. Of course most turn out like I wanted but a few too many didn’t, due to the lack replacement parts for the old movements. Later on, I began getting better acquainted with newer, modern watches. With parts more readily available, i now have the option of going one step beyond restoration and play with modifications and personalization. Myself like all watch enthusiasts, we all thought about having our own brand, putting our vision out there. Thus far, I have only been working on my own or mates’ watches. It was purely self motivational than anything really. I learn from the best experienced, certified master watchmakers, each has something to bring to the table and their willingness share their trade with me is something I greatly appreciate. Through the years of dealings with different suppliers and vendors worldwide for personalized/custom parts such as dials, crystals, watchcases, I am able to envisage valuable insight of the global watch trade. Coupled with the boom of the internet watch community comes a unique opportunity that perhaps is the perfect platform for launching my own watch brand.
CRUX is the smaller but brightest star constellation in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere. Crux Watch Co. may be a modestly sized custom watch builder but we are independent and use only the best materials for our all our watches. All Crux watches are carefully assembled in our facility in Melbourne, Australia and in very limited quantity. We strive to provide a customer with maximum satisfaction with his/her purchase.
